Everyone at Access should feel safe, welcome and able to take part.

We take safeguarding seriously. This means looking after the wellbeing and safety of everyone who takes part in Access activities — children, young people and adults — and taking concerns about behaviour, boundaries, welfare or safety seriously.

You do not need to be certain that something is wrong before speaking to us. If something has happened, something has made you uncomfortable, or you are worried about someone else’s wellbeing or safety, we would rather you told us than keep it to yourself.

Who can you talk to?

Our primary safeguarding contacts are:

Matthew Jones: matt@accessparkour.com (CWPO)

Barbora Red: red@accessparkour.com

Adam Romaine: adam@accessparkour.com

You can approach any coach directly at a session, ask to speak privately, or contact us via info@accessparkour.com.

If you would rather speak to someone who is not involved in your session, please ask.

What can you tell us about?

Anything that concerns you about safety, welfare or behaviour within the Access community can be raised with us. This might include:

      ● behaviour that makes you or someone else feel uncomfortable or unsafe;

      ● unwanted attention, contact or physical contact;

      ● bullying, harassment or intimidation;

      ● concerns about sexual behaviour or inappropriate relationships;

      ● concerns about a child or young person’s welfare;

      ● something that has happened during an Access session or event;

      ● something outside an Access session that you believe may affect someone’s safety or participation at Access;

      ● something that doesn’t feel right and you aren’t sure what to do about.

You don’t need to know what to call it. You don’t need to have all the information. And you don’t need to decide whether it is a “complaint” before talking to us.

What happens when you tell us?

We will listen, take your concern seriously and make a record of the information where appropriate.

We will not expect you to investigate the situation yourself or confront the person involved.

We will consider what action, if any, is appropriate and may seek specialist safeguarding advice where necessary. This could include putting temporary arrangements in place to help keep people safe while a concern is being considered.

We will treat information sensitively and respect people’s privacy. However, we cannot promise that information will always remain completely confidential: in some circumstances, information may need to be shared with appropriate people or services to protect someone’s safety or wellbeing.

If you are making a disclosure, we will explain as clearly as we can what we are doing and why.

We understand that raising a concern can feel difficult, particularly if you are worried about causing trouble, being disbelieved, getting someone into trouble, or changing the atmosphere within the community.

You are not responsible for deciding what happens next.

If something concerns you, talk to us. We’ll work out the next step with you.
